A long-time client reached out to me over Memorial Day weekend asking if I could get some information on a home being built in Milwaukee’s North Shore.
Having five-year-old twins, my hide and seek skills are off the chart, I was up for the challenge.
I started doing some research and tracked down the name of the owner. I found their address and telephone number, so I did what any good Realtor would do, I started calling and writing letters to the owner.
As you would expect, I heard nothing.
Being in real estate for over 17 years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and becoming friends with a lot of people throughout Milwaukee. If there are six degrees of separation throughout the country, It’s two degrees in Milwaukee. If I want to be introduced to somebody in Milwaukee, there’s a decent chance one of my connections can help.
That was not the case with this family. Nobody I knew was connected to them. I even shared pictures of the home being built to long-time Realtors.
Again, nothing.
On July 6th, a friend invited me to lunch. We were catching up and discussing our jobs when I mentioned that I was looking for a very specific home for a client. My friends’ eyes opened a little wider and said, “I have a client who is building his dream home in that area.” After a month and a half, I had a connection to the person building the home.
Now, it was time to reach out and see if they were willing to sell the gorgeous property they were building for themselves, to my client.
Long story short, we closed shortly after Labor Day.
